Functional Hardware

Soft-Close & Lift Systems
Designed and installed by Midway.

You feel quality hardware before you notice it: the drawer that glides shut without a slam, the wall cabinet that lifts up and stays. It's the engineering behind the doors. Midway specs soft-close throughout and adds lift systems where they earn their keep, all installed and adjusted by our crew.

Frequently Asked

Soft-Close & Lift Systems questions, answered.

What does soft-close mean?
Soft-close hardware uses a built-in damper so doors and drawers slow down and pull themselves shut quietly in the last inch: no slamming, no pinched fingers, and far less wear over the years. Blum's BLUMOTION is the name that set the standard. Midway specs soft-close on the cabinet lines we lead with, and our crew adjusts every hinge and glide on install.
What is an AVENTOS lift system?
AVENTOS (by Blum) is a lift mechanism for wall cabinets. Instead of a door that swings out into your face, the front lifts up and stays open overhead, then closes with soft-close. It is ideal over a range or sink and for wide cabinets. Midway specs it where it earns its keep and installs and adjusts it as part of the kitchen.
Is soft-close worth it?
Yes. It is one of the few upgrades you feel every single day, and it meaningfully extends the life of the doors and drawers by eliminating slamming. On the value lines it is largely standard now; on made-to-order lines it is a small add. Midway includes it in the design so you feel the difference the day it is installed.
